Executive Committee

David Niu - President
A former professional rugby league player from Australia, England and France, David began developing the sport in the United States when he moved to the Philadelphia area in 1993. Since then he has built a strong core administration to help develop and promote rugby league in the U.S. Niu continues to play rugby professionally for the U.S. national team and for the Glen Mills Bulls. His dedication to the sport on and off the field has taken rugby to new heights in the United States.

Bill Hansbury - General Manager
Bill is responsible for the management & development of rugby league in the Northeast at a youth, collegiate and club level. He is also the Assistant coach of the Glen Mills Bulls and the USA national team. Before Hansbury retired from playing, he won two championships with the Glen Mills Bulls team and was the 1998 SLA MVP. He played five internationals with the USA national team.

Robert Balchandran - Football Manager and Legal Counsel
Although an attorney for the Governor’s office in New York City, Bob is also the AMNRL’s Football Manager and Legal Counsel and co-ordinates the development of Rugby League in the USA. As a player he has represented the USA in the 2000 Emerging Nations World Cup, the 1995 & 1996 World Sevens, and 1997 World Nines. He has being playing for the USA national team since 1995 and is the AMNRL’s national team starting center.

Rich Portale - General - Legal Counsel

Rich served as an Assistant District Attorney and an associate in the Law firm of Duffy, Duffy, and Burdo, before signing on with the AMNRL team. He is currently also the Chief Executive Offficer and Legal Counsel for the Connecticut Wildcats. As a player, Rich has won AMNRL Championships with the 2004 Wildcats and 2003 Knights and has represented the USA Tomahawks in 12 International Matches.
