Season Preview:

The Northern Raiders, also known as New York Raiders were established in 2002. Based in the NY metropolitan area, their main pitch is in Rockland County NY. They also plan on playing at  Pier 40 in Manhattan in 2011. The club originated in 2002 and played its games in a few places in the NY City suburbs through the years. They play their home games at the Tallman Mountain Athletic Stadium at Tallman Mountain State Park in Palisades NY. The New York Raiders are hoping for a breakout season in 2011.

The Raiders boast a strong side filled with both foreign and domestic top notch newcomers, combined with a bunch of team veterans. This new look team should be able to make big waves in this year’s competition. Some of the top Australians the Raiders are welcoming in 2011 are Adam Shaw, Dan Fullarton, and Matt Vautin. Past player Joel Venables will help Captain and Coach the NY Raiders.

Players to watch in 2011:

• Dan Fullarton - Fullarton brings plenty of size to the forward position, at 6 foot 4 232 lbs. He can play anywhere on the pitch. Dan has great experience, having played in the  Queensland cup. He will help help coach and captain the side.
• Adam Shaw - One of the top Raider pickups of the off-season, Adam is an Australian who played for the Manly Sea Eagles and Premier League in Australia. Currently finishing out his contract in France, the Raiders will be his next stop and possibly his last.
• Matt Vautin - One of  the  leaders in the Raiders back line, Matt is versatile and can play a few  positions. The Raiders hope to plug him in to their talented American backline along with returning Aussie and Italian international Dan Sansone.
• Paulo Reis - Paulo is an accomplished wrestler, finishing 2nd in New York State in 2008. Ries brings the intangibles with his amazing endurance and great tackling skills.  Hailing from New York, NY he is 5 foot 10 and  205.22
