WOLFHOUNDS SQUAD
Date:
02.17.12
Saturday, March 17th will see the return of the Donnybrook Cup when the Ireland Wolfhounds make another trip across the Atlantic to take on the USA Tomahawks in Philadelphia.
This meeting, which will take place at Widener University’s Quick Stadium, will mark the eighth staging of the St Patrick's Day Challenge with the USA currently leading the series by four wins to Ireland's three.
A win for Ireland will see them level the rivalry and retain the Cup following an impressive 28-6 victory last year.
This meeting will see Ireland bring a much changed squad with only eight of the victorious 2011 squad returning to take on the Tomahawks.
The squad will also include four senior internationals in the form of last year’s man of the match Sean Carmody, Paddy Boyle, Paddy Barcoe and Brendan Guilfoyle.
Also making the trip are Andy McGrory and Joseph Mulhern who were part of last year’s international challenge against Wales bringing the number of players who have been part of the senior squad to six.
With so many senior squad members involved in this clash it is one of the most experienced side’s Ireland has brought to the USA since the inception of the St Patrick’s Day challenge.
