TOMAHAWKS TOUGH TEST
The USA Tomahawks squad to lineup against the might of Mate Ma'a Tonga in Honolulu on May 12 will be announced next week with a number of players returning from the successful Donnybrook Cup squad that beat the Ireland Wolfhounds 38-20 in March. Marcus Vassilakopoulos will once again coach the US team in the absence of head coach Matt Elliott who is busy in season at the Sydney Roosters in the Australian NRL. It is expected that a few players will be unavailable due to work and personal commitments which will open the door for some new talent to showcase their skills against a fierce Tongan outfit.
A huge crowd is expected to attend the match with excitement building throughout the island and local rugby community. It will be the first rugby league international on the island of Oahu, with AMNRL officials hopeful that many future matches against Tonga and other pacific neighbors will follow as the sport of rugby league gains a foothold in the region.
Fans can enjoy plenty of rugby action on game day, and also check out the USA Tomahawks practice sessions at the famous Kapiolani Park by Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach in the days leading up to the match.
