COLONIAL CUP 2012
The American National Rugby League continue to build out the international schedule in 2012 for the USA Tomahawks in preparation for the Rugby League World Cup next October in Europe with the Colonial Cup series against Canada announced today. The Tomahawks will take on the Wolverines in a home and away series with game one to be played on Saturday, September 8 in Toronto. The second game will be played in the USA on Saturday, September 22 with the location and venue to be announced soon.
The Tomahawks currently hold the Colonial Cup even thought last years games were split with a win a piece. The Wolverines have improved with every international since returning to the international stage in 2010 and will be a formidable force for the USA to contend with in September. The fierce rivalry between the two nations has a rich history across many sports enjoyed in North America. The intense passion that both teams have displayed in recent internationals is evidence that rugby league can now be added to the likes of Ice Hockey, Baseball, and Rugby Union as an exciting cross border confrontation.
The series record for the Colonial Cup since 2010 is the USA 3 - Canada 1. The Wolverines will have a chance to tie that rubber up in 2012 but we are sure our USA Tomahawks will have other plans in mind.
