The American National Rugby League expects to announce its 17-man squad this Saturday night for the upcoming Colonial Cup match against Canada.
The AMNRL will name the Tomahawks’ roster following Friday night’s Grand Final between the New York Knights and Connecticut Wildcats. The US squad will not include any of the 15 overseas-based players named in the Tomahawks train-on squad for the Rugby League World Cup Qualifiers. Head coach Matt Elliott is planning to assemble those players in a separate camp in Australia in September. Elliott and his coaching staff will use the two Canada internationals to test various combinations and personnel prior to the RLWCQ. A number of players from within the train-on squad will get an opportunity, some with previous international experience and others who will be making their international debuts.
The return Colonial Cup game will be played in Toronto on Saturday, September 17.
