BUSY WEEKEND OF RUGBY LEAGUE
Another mouthwatering Atlantic Conference clash in the big apple heads the card this weekend in Round 6 of the American National Rugby League. The high-flying New York Knights (3-1) are set to host a vastly improved Northern Raiders (3-2) under lights at ‘The Castle’ on Pier 40 in Manhattan on Friday night. The Knights are on a roll and seemingly have a lock on top spot in the standings. After dropping their season opener, the New Yorkers haven’t missed a beat in rattling off three straight Ws and they’ll be looking to make it four in a row when the Raiders come to town. The Raiders, who are having their best season in years, are currently fourth on the ladder and will be striving to put together back-to-back wins for the second time this season, but will definitely have their work cut out for them. In their last two games, the Knights have racked up 60 points of offense on each occasion while at the same time restricting their opposition to no bonus points. If the Raiders are to buck that trend, they will need their Australian trio of Dan Fullarton, Matt Vautin and Tomahawks eligible Leslie Alovili to fire on all cylinders.
