The second round of the AMRNL playoffs have been finalized after the unfortunate withdrawal of the Jacksonville Axemen due to club financial issues compounded by their difficult travel schedule, being located at the southern most end of the AMNRL competition.
The Axemen best the DC Slayers 36-24 but are unable to continue and travel to New Haven for round two of the playoffs.
In the other round one matchup the Connecticut Wildcats beat the New York Knights 52-18. Although beaten, the Knights will get a reprieve as they are the higher losing seed from round one.
With the withdrawal of the Jacksonville Axemen, the second round of the AMNRL playoff bracket will be:-
Game One - Seed One, Aston Bulls v (lowest remaining seed) NY Knights (seed five)
Game Two - Seed Two, New Haven Warriors v (highest remaining seed) CT Wildcats (seed four)
Notes-
-The AMNRL has determined that it is imperative that two games are played in round two of the playoff bracket, rather then an embarrassing and unnecessary situation of the highest seed (Bulls) simply advancing to the GF unopposed
-By virtue of the fact that the Slayers lost to the Axemen (and the subsequent withdrawal of JAX), this did not automatically give DC the right to advance (they were the lowest placed seed; six)
-The Knights have returned to the bracket as the higher seeded losing team from round one of the playoffs with the withdrawal of the Axemen
-The regular season standing, and playoffs seeds determined the above process
