THE WILDCATS AND RAIDERS KEEP THE CONNECTICUT FLAG FLYING HIGH IN THE AMNRL WEEK ONE PLAYOFFS
The Connecticut Wildcats disposed of the Philadelphia Fight in a one sided playoff match to determine who will meet the New Jersey Sharks in week two of the AMNRL playoff series. In an all Connecticut affair, the Northern Raiders scraped home in a nailbiter against the Washington DC Slayers to book a matchup with the Bulls in the other half of the playoff bracket.
The Wildcats proved to be too powerful and skillful for a game Philadelphia Fight squad that travelled north for the first meeting between the two clubs. The Fight battled the odds from the outset, with the skill and ball playing ability of the Wildcats halves and big forwards presenting a tough challenge that the Fight could not overcome.
The Northern Raiders snatched a thrilling victory over the much fancied DC Slayers in the nations capital. In what may be considered the upset of the season, the Raiders move through to round two of the playoffs. The Slayers looked to be hot favorites to meet the Bulls but didn't count on the sheer determination and desire of the Raiders who desparately want to face their big brothers, the Connecticut Wildcats, in the Championship Final.
Both Connecticut teams go on the road to face the Bulls and Sharks respectively to determine the Championship Finalists, and after this past weeks effort, a title matchup between the two clubs is quite possible.
