National Rugby League News | Bulls
hold off the Sharks at the beach The
"War at the Shore" lived up to its reputation when the Glen Mills Bulls
took on old arch Rivals New Jersey Sharks in a thrilling contest at Sea Isle City,
NJ Shore over the weekend. Both teams fought hard for a victory, but the Bulls
never relinquished the lead as the Sharks fought back from a 12 nil horror start
which ultimately proved to be too much. The
Bulls started the game at a furious pace and had the Sharks quickly pinned down
in their half defending their goal line. The Sharks on the other hand started
off slowly allowing the Bulls to get a strangle-hold on the game with two (2)
quick converted tries in the opening ten (10) minutes. The
Sharks tried to claw their way back with some strong running from forwards and
backs alike. Zac Padget and Joe da Costa enabled Phil Shipos to go in for a pair
of tries and the Sharks were able to keep the score to 16-10 at the end of the
first half. The
second half was a superb display of Rugby League as both teams battled it out
for field possession. Sharks half Derek Tulley scored a great try out wide that
brought the New jersey up to even points with the Bulls. The celebrations didn't
last long as the Bulls added a try after intercepting a drifting Shark's pass
while defending their goal-line, the young Australian Canterbury player out-sprinted
the Sharks backs in the chase the entire length of the field. Both
teams are to be congratulated for a great game of Rugby League that entertained
crowd no stop for War at The Shore V. The
Bulls take the points and are hot on the Heels of the Wildcats with a game in
hand. The Sharks retain their position at the top of the conference playing their
final regular season match this Thursday against the Philadelphia Fight at "Shark
Park". Final
score Bulls 22 Sharks 16
