Cambridge University
Edges Lincoln All-Stars

Jack Casagrande Stadium – Norwalk, CT. - Varsity Champions from England, Cambridge University, scored in the final minutes of play to win their first of 3 matches on their US tour. The Lincoln Conference team was comprised of players from the Wildcats, Warriors, Braves and Knights and looked to get the better of the students from the start. But the Cambridge side played with a ton of grit and determination and managed to climb on top, as darkness fell. With no time remaining, Lincoln All-Star Christian Rahui put up a high ball into the left corner from 20 meters out that fell just out of reach of winger Steve Annunziata – and the final whistle blew.
Ed Hales, carrying the heart of a lion in the frame of a house-cat, was the Stella-Artois MVP from Cambridge. He was tireless on both sides of the ball for seventy minutes, as he managed a ten minute spell in the sin bin for trying to take a Lincoln player’s head back to the University as a souvenir. Nick “Jr. Webby” Isbrandtson was the Man of the Match from the AMNRL and several Cambridge boys were mumbling about having to see him again on Saturday, when they play the Emerging Tomahawks at Pier 40, in NYC.
Thanks goes out to the Rattlesnake for hosting both teams after the match, Martin Woodcock, Nutter, Mike Finneran, Rich Portale and Greg Stelluti for organizing the tour, and referee Ben Belly. Organizers from both sides hope to make this an annual tour, possibly alternating between England and the USA.
