Dogs
of War run with the Bulls
The
Glen Mills Bulls have welcomed the arrival of three rising stars
of the 2003 Champion Canterbury Bulldogs Jersey Flegg Squad. The
Bulldogs are the Bulls Australian NRL partner club and the link
between the two clubs is an exciting partnership as Rugby League
continues to develop in the USA.
All
three players; Ben Shaw, Michael Tesoriero, and Chris McGuirk are
18 years old and will be living and working on campus at the Glen
Mills Schools. The first match in the Bulls uniform for the Bulldogs
trio will be the replay of the 2002 Ferrainola Cup Final against
the New York Knights this weekend at Jack Pearson Field at Glen
Mills.
The
Bulls are currently second in the Lincoln Conference with a record
of 3-1 having been soundly beaten by the competition's in form Connecticut
Wildcats, and will be looking to strike form as they confront some
tough competition in the run to the playoffs. In the coming weeks
the Bulls face the Knights twice, the Wildcats at home and perrenial
foe, the New Jersey Sharks at Sea Isle in "War at the Shore
VI".
With
the addition of Ben Shaw who can handle the role of lock or flyhalf,
Michael Tesoriero at hooker or halfback, and Chris McGuirk at second
row or hooker, the Bulls will now have a number of choices as to
rotating key personnel.
The
exchange between the Bulldogs Jersey Flegg players and the Glen
Mills Bulls is expected to be the first phase in the movement of
young players between other clubs in the AMNRL and their partner
NRL organizations both this season and in the future.
Bulldogs
management see the opportunity for young players in their club being
able to travel to America and experience a different culture, and
assist in the development of Rugby League as a positive and exciting
opportunity for all concerned.
