Sharks
turn out in numbers to slay D.C.
A competitive
but low in numbers DC Slayers took on a strong turn out by last
years Minor Premiers New Jersey Sharks in the Top of the Franklin
Conference Table for Round 4.
With
limited numbers the slayers put up a performance that is worthy
for all teams in the AMNRL to take note of. They approached the
game with high spirits and the players were eager to make amends
for their turnout by scaring the Sharks early in the game. Powerful
running by giant forward and Tomahawks debutante David Faimanifo
allowed their classy backline to worry the Sharks throughout the
game.
They
were in the match right up to half time but it wasn't to last as
the Sharks soon settled down over came the strong performance. The
sharks showed late glimpses that made them worthy of being last
years minor premiers being lead around the park by captain Sal Ranniello
and Dave Cunliffe. In the end simply mathematics and Sharks Defense
was the difference as tackles by Mike McKenzie, Fred Konicki and
Rookie Jeff Cook took their toll on the Slayers mighty effort.
The
Sharks win was sweet revenge for the flogging they received by the
Slayers in round 1 of the AMNRL competition. Both teams can look
forward to facing each other in the playoffs as a new rivalry has
quickly developed in the Franklin Conference.
