come back for the Fight
The
Media Mantarays withstood a furious final onslaught from the Philadelphia
Fight to claim victory at Torresdale Boys Club by 32-30. The Mantarays
have slowly begun to regroup after some early season struggles and
turned on the power by jumping out to an early lead of 18-0 in the
first half over a youthful Philadelphia Fight squad that will only
improve as the season develops.
With
wholehearted performances from Media stalwarts, Ryan Blake, Fred
Gruhler and Dave Divalerio the young and inexperienced Mantarays
players followed the lead of the Tomahawks internationals to create
havoc in the Fight defensive line through the likes of Joe Bascelli
and returning international Chris Cahill.
With
the ball being moved around at a furious pace, the Fight could not
contain the free running of Alan Chmielewski who bagged a double
in the first half.
The
second half however proved to be dominated by the Fight as they
refused to surrender with forceful displays from Jeff Preston, Jay
Neely, Marlon Steele and John Mchilhinny.
The game was not decided until the final whistle with the Fight
valiantly trying to pull off a huge come from behind effort.
The
match was a great sign for both clubs as they begin to gain more
experience and attract new talent.
Both
teams will be forces to be reckoned with as the second half of the
competition nears.
