Slayers
sting Mantarays in a sizzler
Washington
notched its second win of the year moving to second place by defeating
the struggling Media Manatarays in muggy conditions for Round 3.
The
Slayers defense much improved from last week dominated the game
throughout with better running drills and passing sets. While still
weak in retaining the ball for back to back sets of six tackles,
the Slayers continue to work well together as the new club find
their feet in their first season of the AMNRL competetion.
The
game produced some incredible action with attacking and defense
being well displayed on both sides as DC scored 3 trys to one in
the first half. Manatrays stung back early in the second half with
a superb runaway try by Fred Gruhler but the heat soon took its
affect on the Media players as the remainder of the half belonged
to Washington.
D.C.
piled on 30 unanswered points with class efforts by Ric Dortone,
Dave Faimanifo, Andrew Susan and Luis Tambussi. Media was well supported
by their usual suspects in Fred Gruhler, Ryan Blake and Dave Devalerio.
