Knights beat Bulls in a "Thriller on the Hudson"!
Hudson River Park - New York,NY.
Last year's champion Glen Mills Bulls could not stop the pain from last week's loss on the road to the Northern Raiders in an epic battler yesterday against the New York Knights. Despite a good all around effort, the Bulls lost 22-24 to the Knights in a game that many on the sidelines felt was as charged up as a Grand Final match! The Knights in their home opener at their new field at Pier 40 in the Hudson River Park, now dubbed the "Castle" by Knights players and supporters, quieted early season predictions that they would not be Grand Final contenders with an impressive win in 85 degree heat!
Both teams held the lead several time in the game with the Knights striking first in the early minutes with a beautiful try by Matt Pritchard. The Bulls fired right back however when Marcus Vassilakopoulos scored the first of his three trys for the afternoon. This was the pattern for the entire game, with one team taking the lead and seemingly moments later the lead shifted to the other team. Despite both teams scoring 5 trys, it was the point after conversions that put the Knights on top with Knights kicker and game MVP Ryan Rogers able to convert 2 out of his 5 attempts at goal. "We committed a number of handling errors which kept them in the game during the second half." said Knights Captain Matt Astill. "But when you play the Bulls if you give them an inch, they will take a mile so we are very, very happy with the win!"
The Knights will hope to continue their winning streak next week at the Castle when they play host to the New Jersey Sharks. The Bulls will have a week to get their house in order before they face a red not Philadelphia Fight next week at Sea Isle, NJ.

Trys scored: Ryan Rogers (2), Matt Pritchard, Chris Noonan, Kefan Washington
Conversions: Rogers (2)
Bulls-22
