The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a huge play to assist the Jacksonville Axemen

The Friday night (May 4th) portion of the Jacksonville Axemen training camp will be held at the turf training field that is a part of the Jacksonville Jaguars training facility. Axemen Coach and Co-Founder, Spinner Howland was quoted as saying, "I cannot believe this offer. Here is a multi million dollar sports team that truly wants to see the smaller sports in the city grow. Being able to use this field, for even one nights activities, is the kind of thing you ask for as a kid at Christmas time. I just guess that Santa is a Jags fan."

The Jacksonville Jaguars are well known in the Jacksonville community for sponsoring and supporting local schools and sports programs, especially those that contain football. They seem to understand that they have the "power" of being the largest sporting organization in the city and they use that with the greatest amount of "responsibility". The Axemen chiefs are still coming to terms with being allowed access to such a high profile facility.

Although the Axemen have the best facility in the AMNRL competition at the University of North Florida, they wanted to try and hold part of the training camp at a different venue to see if some local former high school or college football players might be interested in this contact sport as an option. Using the Jaguars training ground not only allows the players to experience an NFL quality turf field but it should also make some noise among the local media and the Axemen are hoping that attracts some new potential players.

The training camp will start at 6.30pm on Friday May 4th and go until approx 9pm. It is open to the public and media.

Coach Spinner Howland also said, "Current Jags players that want to see if they are fit are welcome to come and test themselves against the Rugby League style training."

The evening will consist of some fitness drills, ball and skill work, some defensive and offensive plays and will end in a 30 minute light scrimmage type play set.

THE JACKSONVILLE AXEMEN WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS FOR ALLOWING THIS OPPORTUNITY AND WE HOPE THAT ALL AXEMEN FANS CONTINUE THEIR CONTACT SPORTS SUPPORT DURING THE AXEMEN OFF-SEASON BY SUPPORTING THE JAGUARS
