Tour to Japan Postponed
The
AMNRL have been forced to postpone the coming tour of Japan by the
USA Emerging Tomahawks (U/23) Developmental Squad. The proposed
tour was to include two matches in Tokyo between the USA and the
Japan Samurais and also and East Japan Squad on the weekend of March
29 and 30.
Current
world events have led to the decision to postpone the tour with
a travel advisory issued to the AMNRL regarding pending tours until
further notice.
The
JRL and AMNRL plan to continue the growing relationship between
the two nations and details of the rescheduled date of the tour
will be known at a later time.
The
AMNRL were anxious to promote the development of many new and young
players now enjoying Rugby League and the tour was an opportunity
for young players to showcase their talents prior to the 2003 domestic
season.
With
the cancellation of the opening matches of the MLB season set down
for Tokyo next weekend, and the cancellation of the Japan National
Soccer Team touring the USA this week, the AMNRL had no alternative
but defer the tour and plan travel for the Emerging Tomahawks at
another time suitable to both nations.
