2
new clubs in 2003
Expansion
plans continue to develop within the AMNRL Club Competition for
season 2003. Two new areas will sport clubs this coming season in
the Washington DC Slayers
and also the Connecticut
Wildcats, with more details on players and news to be announced
shortly,
Both
clubs, like all other AMNRL teams, will be partnered with NRL Professional
Clubs. The inclusion of the two new teams will make the AMNRL Competition
now consist of eight teams, which has established the composition
of a two conference league, each made up of four teams.
The
Washington, DC area will be a tremendous step forward in developing
a squad out of the Nations Capitol, and the team will be supported
significantly by the New Zealand Embassy via management and playing
staff. NZ Ambassador to the USA, Mr. John Wood, will be Patron of
the newly formed Rugby League club.
Tremendous
interest surrounds the Connecticut Club with the news that several
high profile Tomahawks Internationals and former Championship Medal
winners with the New York Knights, will be heading up the new organization.
Rich Portale, Danny Bull, Mike Mulvihill and Greg Stelutti will
be moving up the expressway out of Manhattan and building a formidable
lineup in the Corporate Headquarters center of the USA.
The
names of both NRL partner clubs is to be announced shortly.
