USA
on show at St Marys Sevens
The
Tomahawks will be on show prior to this year's three match Australian
Tour with a squad announced for the World Sevens Qualifier at St.
Mary's, Sydney Australia on January 29. The US Squad will comprise
Australian based players who qualify to play for America or play
in the AMNRL Club competition.
The
squad will be coached by Shane Millard and led by experienced USA
Tomahawk Star and Glen Mills Bulls latest recruit, Marcus Vassilakopoulos.
Other exciting selections are former Cronulla Sharks star, Stuart
Pierce, whose wife is American and holds a greencard, and Ian Mortimer,
son of Canterbury legend and Australian Kangaroo Chris Mortimer.
Ian holds an American passport and will be a tremendous addition
to the US team.
Unfortunately
for the Tomahawks Alf Duncan is unavailable and will play for Newtown
in the same competition. In an odd turn of events Alf is not available
for the Tomahawks, although Darrel Trindall has been made available
for the Jets to play for the Australian Aborigines squad.
The
winner of the qualifier will move through to the World Sevens at
Aussie Stadium on February 1 and 2.
